Oakland, CA (January 18, 2026) – A man was injured Friday afternoon after his bicycle collided with a vehicle near E 31st St in Oakland, prompting a trauma response.
The incident occurred on January 17 around 1:33 p.m. According to paramedics from Alameda County Fire, the 65-year-old cyclist struck a car and fell onto his left side. Although the man was initially able to bear some weight and return home on his own, his pain worsened over time, and he ultimately required emergency medical attention.
Paramedic crews from Medic 4 responded under a Code 2 trauma alert and found the man alert and oriented but experiencing increasing pain and difficulty moving. He reported significant discomfort in his left hip, prompting concerns about a possible fracture or joint injury.
Vital signs were taken at the scene, and the man was transported for further evaluation and treatment.
The full circumstances of the collision remain under investigation. Authorities have not released additional information about the vehicle involved or whether the driver remained on the scene.
