Ocala, FL (May 1, 2026) – Seven people, including four children, were hospitalized on Thursday afternoon following a multi-vehicle crash in Ocala.

According to Ocala Fire Rescue, the collision occurred around 4:07 p.m. at the intersection of Northwest Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue and Northwest 22nd Street. Emergency crews arrived to find two SUVs involved in the crash, an Infiniti and a Buick, with multiple individuals in need of medical attention.

Authorities confirmed that a total of seven patients were transported to local hospitals. The injured included three adults and four children. One child was designated as a trauma alert due to the severity of the crash, indicating potentially serious injuries requiring immediate evaluation.

First responders worked to assist the injured and secure the scene as the intersection experienced temporary disruptions.

At this time, officials have not released additional details regarding the cause of the crash or the current conditions of those injured.

The incident remains under investigation.

We hope for a full recovery for all those affected.

How Do Multi-Vehicle Crashes Impact Children Differently?

Children involved in vehicle crashes can face unique risks due to their size and physical development. Even when properly restrained, the force of a collision can affect them differently than adults, making careful medical evaluation especially important after an accident.

In incidents involving multiple passengers, emergency responders must quickly assess each individual to determine the severity of injuries. A trauma alert designation is often used when there is concern about potentially serious injuries, even if symptoms are not immediately clear.

Proper use of car seats, booster seats, and seat belts plays a critical role in reducing injury risk for children. However, even with these safety measures, crashes can still result in injuries that require prompt medical attention and follow-up care.
