What Information Is Commonly Reviewed After a Fatal Intersection Crash?
Fatal crashes at intersections require a detailed review of the moments leading up to the collision. Investigators typically examine vehicle positions, damage patterns, roadway conditions, traffic controls, and witness accounts to better understand how the crash occurred.
Intersections can be complex traffic environments because vehicles may be traveling in different directions while making turns, stopping, or proceeding through signals. Even a brief lapse in timing or judgment can contribute to a serious collision.
When multiple people are involved, investigators may also review the sequence of impacts and the movements of each vehicle before and after the crash. Physical evidence from the roadway can help establish the timeline of events and provide a clearer understanding of the factors that contributed to the incident.
