Perth Amboy, NJ (May 15, 2026) – A fatal motorcycle crash occurred on Thursday afternoon, May 14, at the intersection of Convery Boulevard and Krochmally Avenue in Perth Amboy. Emergency units were dispatched to the scene at about 2:54 p.m.

Officials said a 2021 Nissan Frontier driven by a 51-year-old Perth Amboy man collided with a 2025 Kawasaki motorcycle operated by 28-year-old Xavier Sanchez Serrata of Perth Amboy. Investigators determined the motorcycle was traveling north on Convery Blvd when it struck the side of the pickup truck as the Nissan attempted to turn left onto Krochmally Ave.

Sanchez Serrata suffered serious injuries in the collision and was airlifted to University Hospital in Newark. Authorities later confirmed that he died from his injuries, while the pickup truck driver sustained minor injuries in the accident. The incident remains under review by authorities.

We extend our sincere condolences to the family of Sanchez Serrata.

What Information Is Commonly Reviewed After a Fatal Motorcycle Accident?

Fatal motorcycle crashes often involve a detailed review of vehicle movement, roadway positioning, and driver visibility. Investigators typically examine how both vehicles approached the intersection and whether either driver had enough time to react before impact.

Road conditions, traffic signals, and turning movements are also commonly analyzed after a collision involving a motorcycle and another vehicle. Damage patterns on both vehicles may help show the angle and force of impact. Witness statements and nearby surveillance footage can also provide added context about how the accident unfolded. In some cases, medical findings later help explain the extent of injuries suffered during the collision. These details are often gathered over time as investigators continue building a clearer timeline of the events surrounding the crash.
