Understanding Pedestrian Hit-and-Run Crashes
Hit-and-run collisions involving pedestrians often present serious challenges for both victims and investigators. Pedestrians can suffer severe injuries even at relatively low vehicle speeds, especially to the head, legs, and torso. Witnesses and surveillance footage are critical in identifying the involved vehicle and driver when they leave the scene.
Investigators typically examine vehicle damage, skid marks, and the pedestrian’s location to determine how the crash occurred. Urban intersections like Cottman Avenue, with multiple lanes of traffic and frequent crossings, can be high-risk areas for pedestrians. Driver reaction, visibility, and street conditions are also important factors in understanding these serious incidents.
