Why Vehicle Fires Can Make Crash Scenes More Dangerous
A crash involving fire can create added danger for the people inside the vehicles and for nearby drivers. Heat, smoke, and leaking fluids may make it harder to approach the scene safely. If someone is trapped, crews may need to work quickly while also controlling fire risk.
Major injury crashes can also require more space around the damaged vehicles. Emergency units might need room for medical care, tow trucks, and traffic control. Nearby intersections or access roads can slow that work if vehicles continue moving through the area.
Animals at crash scenes can add another concern. Pets may be scared, injured, or separated from their owners. Keeping them secured helps protect both the animal and the crews working nearby.
