Playa Del Rey, CA (May 4, 2026) – A man died and two other people were critically injured in a hit-and-run crash in Playa Del Rey on Sunday, May 3. The collision happened around 4:34 a.m. in the 6800 block of South Vista Del Mar.

Emergency units arrived after a two-vehicle crash was reported. A man, described as about 30 years old, died at the scene.

Two other people were critically injured in the collision. They were identified only as a woman about 30 years old and a child about 1 year old. Both were taken to a hospital for urgent care.

The second vehicle involved in the crash left the scene. No other immediate details were available in the initial report.

The crash remains under investigation. Additional details may become available as authorities continue their review.

Our condolences go out to the victim’s loved ones, and we wish those injured a speedy recovery.

How Hit-and-Run Crashes Can Affect Emergency Care

Hit-and-run crashes can leave injured people needing fast medical help while key details are still missing. Early care focuses on breathing, bleeding, head injuries, and signs of shock. First responders arriving at the scene must prioritize stabilizing victims before any investigation. When a young child is involved, medical teams may take extra care because injuries can be harder to assess, as children may not be able to communicate symptoms clearly and internal injuries may not be immediately visible.

Two-vehicle crashes can cause severe harm when the impact happens at higher speeds or during low-light hours. A person may suffer serious injuries from the first impact, broken glass, or movement inside the vehicle. The direction of the collision also plays a role, as side impacts offer less structural protection than front or rear collisions, leaving occupants more exposed to the full force of the crash.

For injured adults and children, hospital treatment may include scans, monitoring, and care for internal trauma. Scans helps medical teams identify injuries that are not visible externally, including organ damage, internal bleeding, and fractures. The location of the impact, seat position, and use of restraints can all affect how serious the injuries become. Properly fitted seat belts and age-appropriate car seats can significantly reduce the severity of injuries, while unrestrained occupants face a much higher risk of being thrown within the vehicle or ejected entirely during a high-speed collision.

1Seek treatment promptly after being injured in an accident. Your first priority should always be your health. Many providers offer treatment on a lien basis, meaning you can get the care you need now and pay later when your claim is resolved.
2Before speaking with an insurance company, make sure you have the facts. An official police report is the most reliable record of what happened and can help establish liability An experienced attorney can assist you in obtaining this report and using it to protect your interests.
3Consider having your case reviewed by a qualified attorney who can guide you through the next steps. They will safeguard your rights and pursue the compensation you deserve.
