Portland, OR (January 26, 2026) – Firefighters and emergency medical teams from Portland Fire and Rescue were dispatched on January 25 to a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Southeast Duke St and Southeast 72nd Ave. The crash involved injuries and one vehicle emitting smoke upon arrival.
According to dispatch audio, both Engine 11 and Medic 1349 responded to the scene, coordinating with local police under a Priority 2 Bravo response. At least one person was confirmed injured in the crash, which involved significant impact, as evidenced by deployed airbags and the report of smoke coming from one of the vehicles.
Emergency personnel arrived quickly and began an immediate assessment of the injured parties. First responders worked to stabilize those hurt and investigate the condition of both vehicles. The scene required coordinated attention due to the fire risk posed by the smoking vehicle.
SE Duke St and SE 72nd Ave were affected temporarily as crews performed scene control and ensured no further hazards were present. Though responders successfully mitigated the immediate risk, the full scope of injuries and contributing factors has not yet been disclosed.
Law enforcement officials are continuing their investigation to determine the cause of the crash. No citations or arrests have been reported as of this time.
