Why Intersections on Busy Local Roads See Frequent Crashes
Intersections along heavily traveled roads often become crash hotspots, especially when traffic patterns shift throughout the day. Roads like West Main Road carry a mix of school traffic, commuters, and local drivers, which can increase congestion and sudden stops.
When side streets such as Mill Lane do not have traffic signals, drivers may struggle with limited visibility or judging the speed of oncoming vehicles. Inclines and winter weather can further reduce traction and reaction time, making it harder to avoid a collision.
Areas near schools also see changes in traffic flow during pickup and drop-off times. Drivers who fail to reduce speed or anticipate turning vehicles can contribute to frequent crashes at the same intersection.
