Portsmouth, VA (January 13, 2026) – A tragic collision at the intersection of High St and Virginia Ave left one pedestrian dead on Monday morning, following a high-speed crash involving two vehicles. Authorities responded to the scene near the London Oaks Apartments at approximately 11:50 a.m.
According to witnesses, two vehicles—a white car and a black sedan—were reportedly racing or traveling at excessive speeds when they struck a pedestrian in the crosswalk area. The impact proved fatal, and the pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. Police secured the area and began an extensive investigation as both drivers remained on-site and cooperated with authorities.
In addition to the two main vehicles involved, a third vehicle is being examined as part of the ongoing investigation. The names of the deceased and the individuals involved have not been released, pending notification of family and further review by the Portsmouth Police Department.
