What Factors Are Commonly Reviewed After a Bicycle and Vehicle Collision Involving Impairment?
After a collision between a vehicle and a bicyclist, investigators typically focus on several key areas to reconstruct what occurred. These include the position of the vehicle and bicycle on the roadway, visibility conditions at the time, and the speed and direction of travel for both parties involved.
Reports from emergency responders and witnesses may also help establish a timeline of events. Physical evidence such as skid marks, vehicle damage, and bicycle placement is often examined to better understand the point of impact.
When impairment is suspected, toxicology results and behavioral observations can later provide additional context. Medical findings may also be reviewed to confirm the cause of death or the extent of injuries. All of these elements are usually combined to form a clearer picture of how the crash unfolded.
