Why Motorcycle Crashes Can Lead to Severe Injuries
Motorcycle crashes can cause serious injury because riders have less protection than those in cars or trucks. A helmet and protective gear can reduce some injuries, but riders are still exposed to direct impact with the road, another vehicle, or nearby objects.
Passenger injuries can also be severe, especially when a crash causes ejection or a hard impact. Children face added risk because their bodies are smaller and still developing. Back, head, chest, and abdominal injuries may need quick medical care.
After a severe motorcycle crash, responders often check breathing, movement, pain, and signs of shock. Loss of feeling in the legs can point to a serious injury that requires rapid hospital treatment and careful evaluation.
