Why Single-Vehicle Crashes Often Lead to Serious Injuries
Single-vehicle crashes can occur when a driver loses control, and the vehicle leaves the roadway. These accidents may involve impacts with guardrails, barriers, trees, or other roadside structures.
When a vehicle overturns, the risk of serious injury increases. Rollovers can cause occupants to move violently inside the vehicle, especially if the vehicle strikes multiple objects or rotates several times.
Passenger safety equipment, including seatbelts and airbags, can help reduce harm during these incidents. Seatbelts help keep people secured in their seats and lower the chance of being thrown from the vehicle during a rollover.
Other factors that may contribute to single-vehicle accidents include impaired driving, excessive speed, fatigue, or sudden steering movements. Road conditions and visibility can also influence how easily a driver maintains control.
