Risks Associated With Crossing High-Speed Roadways
Crossing major roadways, such as loop highways, can be especially dangerous due to high traffic speeds and limited crossing points. Drivers may have little time to react to pedestrians, particularly during early morning hours when visibility can be reduced.
Pedestrians face a greater risk outside marked crossings or areas with signals designed for safe passage. Vehicle speed, lighting conditions, and driver awareness all affect the likelihood of a crash. Using designated crossings and staying visible to drivers can help reduce the risk of serious incidents on busy roads.
