Why Pedestrian Crashes on Highways Are Often Fatal
Pedestrian crashes on highways frequently result in severe or fatal outcomes due to high vehicle speeds and limited visibility, especially during early morning or nighttime hours. Unlike city streets, highways are not designed for pedestrian traffic, making these situations particularly dangerous.
Drivers may have little time to react, and pedestrians often have few safe options to avoid oncoming vehicles. These incidents highlight the importance of roadway awareness, proper lighting, and avoiding pedestrian presence on high-speed roadways whenever possible.
