Fresno County, CA (April 18, 2026) – Three people were injured in a two-vehicle crash Friday evening at an intersection in Fresno County.
The collision happened around 5:00 p.m. on Friday, April 17, at Kearney Boulevard and Cornelia Avenue. According to reports, a westbound Chevy Silverado collided with a northbound Honda Accord after it entered the intersection without stopping at a posted stop sign.
Two men, both about 25 years old, were inside the Honda at the time of the crash. Both were taken to a hospital with serious injuries. The driver of the Silverado, a 25-year-old woman, was also taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
Emergency units responded quickly and worked to remove the occupants of the Honda due to the severity of the impact. The Silverado came to rest partially in a nearby canal, though the shallow water posed no additional danger.
Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the crash, and more details will be released as soon as they become available.
Our thoughts are with those affected as they continue to recover.
What Conditions Can Lead to Crashes at Stop-Controlled Intersections?
Crashes at stop-controlled intersections often happen when a driver fails to come to a complete stop. This can lead to vehicles entering the roadway at the wrong time, especially when cross traffic is moving at a steady speed.
Driver attention is another factor. Distractions or rushed decisions may cause someone to overlook traffic signs or misjudge gaps between vehicles. Even a brief lapse can result in a collision.
The layout of the intersection can also affect visibility. Trees, parked vehicles, or road angles may limit how clearly drivers can see approaching traffic. When visibility is reduced, the risk of a crash increases if drivers do not exercise caution.
