San Antonio, TX (March 21, 2026) – Three people were injured in a multi-vehicle crash early on Saturday morning along Interstate 35 southbound near the Cassin Road bridge in San Antonio. The crash occurred around 6:00 a.m. and involved multiple vehicles.
Authorities said a Ford F-150 traveling at a high rate of speed rear-ended a Toyota Tacoma. The impact pushed the Tacoma into a grassy median and onto an access road, while the Ford struck a metal barrier on the bridge, blocking two lanes. Shortly after the initial crash, a semi-truck collided with the back of the Ford F-150. Officials reported that the driver of the Ford left the scene before emergency units arrived.
A 25-year-old man, a 17-year-old passenger from the pickup, and the 37-year-old driver of the Tacoma were all taken to a nearby hospital. The extent of their injuries has not been fully released. Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the crash, and more details will be released as soon as they become available.
We are thinking of those injured as they receive medical care.
Multi-Vehicle Crashes Can Escalate Quickly on Busy Highways
Crashes involving several vehicles often begin with an initial impact that creates a chain reaction. When traffic is moving at highway speeds, nearby drivers may have little time to react.
Rear-end collisions can push vehicles into other lanes or off the roadway, increasing the chance of additional impacts. Barriers, medians, and surrounding structures can also influence how a crash unfolds.
High-speed conditions and limited stopping distance are common factors in these incidents. When multiple vehicles become involved, the risk of injury and road blockage can increase significantly.
