San Francisco, CA (January 11, 2026) – A motor vehicle collision involving injuries was reported early on Saturday morning on Interstate 80 eastbound, just west of the 7th Street off-ramp in San Francisco. The crash occurred around 1:30 a.m. on January 10 and prompted an emergency Code 3 response.
Engine 36, Medic 556, and additional fire and medical personnel responded to the scene, along with units from the California Highway Patrol. Upon arrival, responders worked to assess and assist individuals who had been injured in the collision. The full extent of the injuries has not yet been confirmed, but medics were observed providing care at the scene.
The crash took place along a heavily trafficked section of I-80 that connects downtown San Francisco to the Bay Bridge corridor. This stretch of highway is often congested, even during overnight hours, which can increase the risk of high-impact collisions.
Emergency crews temporarily blocked lanes to secure the scene and provide medical attention safely. CHP is investigating the cause of the crash and will determine whether driver behavior, mechanical failure, or other factors contributed to the incident.
Our thoughts are with the injured individuals as they recover, and we recognize the coordinated efforts of San Francisco emergency crews in delivering timely assistance.
