San Jose, CA (January 19, 2026) – A multi-vehicle collision caused traffic disruptions and resulted in minor injuries early Monday morning on southbound Interstate 280 just north of the Saratoga Ave off-ramp, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The crash was reported around 3:56 a.m. and involved at least three vehicles, including a black Dodge Challenger, a white Toyota sedan, a blue Toyota Corolla, and a white Honda Civic. Initial reports indicated that debris was scattered across lanes, and one vehicle was reportedly smoking.
CHP units arrived to find multiple lanes blocked, with one vehicle obstructing Lane 1 and others affecting Lanes 2 and 3. Another vehicle was found on the right-hand shoulder with hazard lights on. Emergency crews confirmed the incident involved minor injuries and updated the classification to a 1181-level collision.
Tow services were requested for the Dodge Challenger, which sustained major front-end and right-side damage. A traffic break was initiated to assist with vehicle removal and scene cleanup.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
