San Leandro, CA (January 19, 2026) – A hit-and-run collision early Monday morning on northbound Interstate 880 just south of Marina Blvd left at least one person injured, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The incident occurred around 2:50 a.m. when a gray sedan with visible front-end damage and a hanging bumper was located on the roadside. The driver reported neck pain and requested emergency medical assistance. The crash was later reclassified as a hit-and-run with injuries.
CHP units responded to the scene, and paramedics were dispatched Code 2 to assist the injured party. Meanwhile, the suspect vehicle reportedly fled at high speeds, exiting the freeway and continuing on city streets. Authorities indicated the vehicle may have been heading toward a residential area, and Oakland Police were notified to assist in locating the driver.
A separate patrol unit later spotted the vehicle parked with lights off near E 14th St and E 20th St, where further investigation was initiated.
The crash remains under active investigation, and the identity of the fleeing driver has not yet been released.
