What Can Cause Chain-Reaction Crashes on Busy Highways?
Transitional zones between highways and major routes near Georgia 400 and Interstate 285 can increase crash risk. In Sandy Springs, these areas often involve merging traffic and sudden changes in speed.
Chain-reaction crashes may begin with a single vehicle losing control. When traffic is close together, following drivers may not have enough time or distance to avoid a second or third impact.
Road conditions, driver awareness, and speed all influence how quickly a situation escalates. Even one unexpected movement can affect multiple vehicles, especially on heavily traveled highways.
