Why Rear-End Crashes Can Be Deadly, Especially on Highways
Rear-end collisions often occur when one vehicle cannot stop in time for traffic ahead, particularly on high-speed roadways. Even at moderate speeds, the impact can cause severe injuries or fatalities, especially for older drivers who may be more vulnerable.
Highways present additional risks because traffic moves quickly and drivers have less time to react. Roadway design, visibility, and vehicle spacing can all affect how these crashes happen. Safety measures like maintaining a safe following distance and staying alert are critical to reducing the likelihood and severity of rear-end collisions.
