Why Crashes Involving Semi-Trucks Can Cause Severe Damage
Collisions involving semi-trucks can result in serious injuries due to their size and weight. Large trucks require more distance to slow down or stop compared with passenger vehicles.
When a smaller vehicle collides with a semi-truck, the mass difference can cause significant damage to the smaller vehicle. The impact may be especially severe if the collision occurs at highway speeds.
Highways that carry both commercial trucks and passenger vehicles often require drivers to maintain careful spacing. Trucks may also have larger blind spots, making it harder for drivers to see nearby vehicles.
Road conditions, speed, and traffic flow can all affect how these crashes occur. When a collision involves a heavy commercial vehicle, the impact force can increase the risk of serious injury or death.
