Injury Concerns After Rollover Crashes
Rollover crashes can injure people in several ways because a vehicle may strike the ground more than once. Occupants may be thrown against seats, doors, windows, or other parts of the vehicle during the crash.
Even when injuries are not believed to be life-threatening, medical evaluation may still be needed. Neck pain, back injuries, head trauma, bruising, and soreness can appear or worsen after the initial shock fades.
Ditches and uneven roadside areas can make rollovers more dangerous. The vehicle’s speed, angle, seat belt use, and number of rolls can all affect injury severity. Emergency units often check for trapped occupants, leaking fluids, broken glass, and other hazards before clearing the scene.
