Spartanburg, SC (January 9, 2026) – A serious single-vehicle crash near Bryant Rd late on Thursday night left one person trapped with injuries, prompting a multi-agency emergency response in the Cherokee Springs area of Spartanburg County.
The crash occurred shortly after 10:30 p.m., when a vehicle reportedly veered off the roadway and into a wooded area near Bryant Rd. Emergency dispatchers received reports that the car had sustained heavy damage and was wrapped around trees, suggesting a high-impact crash.
Engine 33 and Truck 7 from the Whitney and Cherokee Springs departments were among the first on scene, where they confirmed one individual was heavily pinned inside the wreckage. Rescue personnel quickly established Bryant Road Command and requested additional resources, including Ladder Company 85 and another rescue unit, to assist with the extrication.
First responders worked under TAC 1 to safely free the trapped individual. The patient’s condition at the time of transport has not been disclosed, but the nature of the response indicates serious injuries were sustained.
The roadway remained active with emergency vehicles for an extended period as crews performed rescue operations and began investigating the cause of the crash.
