Why Do Pedestrian Crashes Often Happen at Busy Intersections?
Intersections with multiple traffic directions can increase the chance of pedestrian crashes. Drivers turning or moving through signals may not always see someone crossing, especially during early morning hours.
Visibility can also be limited depending on lighting, weather, or nearby vehicles blocking the view. This can make it harder for both drivers and pedestrians to react in time.
Traffic timing plays a role as well. During commute hours, higher vehicle flow can create pressure and reduce reaction time, increasing the risk of collisions in crosswalk areas.
