What Factors Are Often Examined After a Head-on Collision?
Head-on crashes are among the most serious types of roadway accidents because of the force created when two vehicles strike front-to-front. After these collisions, investigators commonly review lane positions, vehicle damage, and roadway markings to better understand how the impact occurred.
Traffic flow and visibility conditions may also be examined, especially on highways where speeds are typically higher. In some cases, damaged guardrails, skid marks, or debris patterns can help show the direction each vehicle was traveling before the crash.
Vehicle data systems may provide additional details about speed or braking activity leading up to the collision. Witness statements and surveillance footage from nearby areas can also help piece together a timeline of events when information is still limited in the early stages.
