Neptune Beach, FL (June 14, 2026) – Several people were hurt late Friday, June 12, after a high-speed DUI crash along Florida Boulevard in Neptune Beach, according to police.
Investigators said the wreck occurred near the 1300 block of Florida Blvd, where one vehicle struck the rear of another at a high rate of speed. The force of the hit sent the people involved into a heavy tree line nearby, where emergency units worked to remove them before they were taken to local hospitals for treatment.
Police identified the driver as 19-year-old Trenton Mallory. Officers reported signs of impairment while speaking with him following the collision. He was arrested and later booked on multiple charges, including DUI with property damage or personal injury, careless driving, possession of an alcoholic beverage by a person under 21, an open-container violation, and operating a vehicle with expired registration. Additional details about those hurt had not been released as of Saturday. Investigators are still working to determine all factors that led to the crash.
We hope those injured make a full and speedy recovery.
Why High-Speed DUI Cases Usually Lead to Severe Injuries
Crashes involving high speeds and suspected alcohol use usually result in serious harm because drivers have less time to react and vehicles travel with greater force. Even rear-end collisions can become dangerous when a vehicle is moving far above the posted speed limit. People inside may be thrown against seats, doors, windows, or objects outside the roadway.
Alcohol can also affect judgment, coordination, and reaction time. Drivers who are impaired may struggle to brake properly or recognize slowing traffic ahead. In many cases, investigators review roadway marks, vehicle damage, and witness statements to understand better what happened. Medical evaluations are also commonly used to identify injuries that may not appear immediately after a collision. These factors can help provide a clearer picture of how severe roadway crashes unfold.
