Fort Myers, FL (May 21, 2026) – A Lehigh Acres teen lost their life on Wednesday afternoon, May 20, after a motorcycle and a Honda collided at the intersection of Treeline Avenue and Jetport Loop in Fort Myers.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the teen was traveling south on Treeline Avenue at a high rate of speed shortly before 2 p.m. At the same time, a 68-year-old Fort Myers woman driving a 2005 Honda northbound attempted to make a left turn onto Jetport Loop when the vehicles came together in the intersection.
The teen was pronounced dead following the wreck. No additional information about the people involved had been released as of Thursday morning.
Troopers are still working to determine all factors that led up to the fatal crash.
We share our heartfelt condolences with the teen’s family and friends during this difficult time.
Why Speeding Can Increase the Risk of Serious Motorcycle Wrecks
Motorcycles are more vulnerable in traffic because riders have less protection than people inside passenger vehicles. When speeding is involved, the chance of severe harm rises sharply due to reduced reaction time and longer stopping distances. Higher speeds can also make it more difficult for other drivers to judge how quickly a motorcycle is approaching an intersection.
Left-turn crashes are among the most common types of motorcycle-related roadway incidents. These mostly happen when a driver turns across oncoming traffic and does not see an approaching rider in time. Visibility, road design, and traffic flow can all affect how these situations unfold. Investigators may later review vehicle movement, roadway markings, and witness statements to better understand the moments leading up to the collision.
