What Happens After a Head-On Crash on Two-Lane Roads?
Head-on crashes often occur on roads where traffic moves in opposite directions without a physical barrier between lanes. These incidents can happen when a vehicle crosses the center line after losing control, swerving, or striking an object along the roadway.
When two vehicles collide head-on, the combined force of both vehicles’ speed can cause severe damage. Occupants in the front seats are usually at the greatest risk because they absorb much of the impact.
Roadside features such as guardrails are designed to reduce the chance of vehicles leaving the roadway. However, striking a guardrail can still cause a driver to lose control, especially at higher speeds or during sudden maneuvers.
In crashes like these, medical teams quickly evaluate those involved to determine the extent of injuries. Even when some injuries appear minor at first, further medical examination may be needed to fully assess their condition.
