Why Pedestrian Crashes on Busy City Roads Can Be Dangerous
Roads like Southwest 10th Avenue often carry steady traffic while also serving nearby homes, businesses, and sidewalks. When pedestrians and vehicles share these corridors, drivers and walkers must watch closely for each other.
Pedestrian crashes may occur when people attempt to cross busy streets or walk near traffic lanes. Vehicle speed, traffic volume, and visibility can all affect how easily drivers notice someone in the roadway.
Urban roads may also include multiple lanes and turning vehicles. These conditions can shorten the time drivers have to react, especially when pedestrians cross outside marked crosswalks or during heavy traffic periods.
