Traverse City, MI (January 28, 2026) – A tragic two-vehicle accident on South Airport Road on Tuesday claimed the life of an elderly woman and left two others severely injured, according to Michigan State Police.
The fatal crash occurred east of Hidden Creek Drive, in a section of roadway between US-31 and Silver Lake Road. Authorities reported that a Honda, believed to have lost control, collided with an oncoming Kia. The elderly female passenger in the Honda was pronounced dead at the scene.
Emergency responders rushed to aid the remaining individuals involved in the crash. Both drivers were reported to have suffered serious injuries and were transported for advanced medical care. Crews worked swiftly to block off the roadway, allowing space for scene investigation and cleanup efforts.
South Airport Road remained closed for several hours as Michigan State Police continued their investigation into what led to the crash. Official identities have not yet been released pending notification of family members.
