Castro County, TX (July 9, 2026) – A woman lost her life following a Tuesday morning, July 7, collision on State Highway 194 about six miles southeast of Hart in Castro County.
According to preliminary police reports, the crash occurred at approximately 8:00 a.m. when a semi-truck pulling a trailer was traveling eastbound while a 2024 Ford Bronco was heading west. Investigators said the semi-truck driver attempted to avoid the collision by steering into the westbound lane. At the same time, the Ford Bronco also moved into that lane, where it struck the truck before catching fire.
The semi overturned into a ditch along the north side of the highway. The driver of the Ford Bronco, identified as 57-year-old Stacy Maureen Stone of Abernathy, was pronounced dead at the site. The truck driver was taken to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The Texas Highway Patrol continues to examine the circumstances surrounding the crash to determine exactly what led to it.
