Impaired Driving Is a Leading Cause of Fatal Crashes
Alcohol- and drug-impaired driving continues to be a major factor in serious and fatal traffic collisions across the United States. Impairment can affect reaction times, judgment, and vehicle control, increasing the likelihood of high-impact crashes and severe injuries.
When a crash results in fatalities, investigators conduct extensive reviews that may include toxicology testing, witness interviews, vehicle inspections, and scene reconstruction to determine exactly what occurred.
Motorists are reminded to never drive while impaired and to arrange alternative transportation if they have consumed alcohol or substances that could affect their ability to operate a vehicle safely.
