Ventura County, CA (April 26, 2026) – A major crash involving a fatality slowed traffic along southbound Highway 101 near the Seacliff exit on Sunday morning.
According to the California Highway Patrol, emergency crews were dispatched to the scene around 9:45 a.m. Initial reports indicated a serious collision, and authorities later confirmed that the crash involved a gray Tesla and resulted in at least one fatality.
By approximately 10:30 a.m., the right lane was closed to allow investigators and recovery crews to work safely at the scene. Traffic in the area quickly built up, with conditions described as moderate to heavy as the response continued.
Officials advised drivers to reduce speed and proceed with caution while passing through the area. Recovery operations continued into the early afternoon, and by 12:30 p.m., the lane remained closed as crews worked to remove the involved vehicle.
All lanes were eventually reopened by around 3:00 p.m., restoring normal traffic flow along the highway.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
