How Highway Crashes Can Lead to Extended Delays and Serious Outcomes
Crashes on major highways like Highway 101 can have significant impacts due to high traffic volumes and speeds. When a serious or fatal collision occurs, lanes are often closed for extended periods to allow thorough investigations and safe vehicle removal.
Even a single-lane closure can quickly create congestion, especially during peak travel times. Drivers approaching these areas must remain alert, reduce speed, and be prepared for sudden slowdowns.
Serious crashes often involve high-impact forces, which increase the likelihood of severe injuries or fatalities. Staying attentive, maintaining safe following distances, and adjusting to traffic conditions can help reduce the risk of these dangerous incidents.
