Severe Side-Impact Crashes Can Cause Serious Injuries
Two-vehicle crashes involving side impacts can lead to severe injuries because the sides of passenger vehicles provide less protection than the front or rear. Even with modern safety systems, strong impacts near the driver’s side can cause critical harm to occupants.
Busy roads like Dam Neck Road may carry steady traffic during evening hours, increasing the risk of collisions at intersections or during turning movements. Vehicle speed, roadway layout, and driver reaction times are often examined after serious crashes.
Investigators also review damage patterns on both vehicles to help determine how the collision occurred. Extensive vehicle damage can provide insight into the angle of impact and the amount of force involved during the crash.
