Why Do Pedestrian Accidents Happen on Busy Streets?
Pedestrian crashes often take place on roads with steady traffic and multiple lanes. Drivers may be focused on signals or other vehicles and fail to see someone crossing, especially at night.
Lighting conditions can affect visibility after sunset. Even in well-lit areas, glare from headlights or streetlights may limit how clearly a driver sees a person in the road.
Speed is another factor. The faster a vehicle is moving, the less time a driver has to react if someone steps into the street. Clear crosswalk markings and reduced speeds can help lower the risk of serious injuries.
