What Risks Are Associated With Collisions Involving Large Municipal Vehicles?
Crashes involving large municipal vehicles, such as sanitation trucks, can be especially dangerous due to their size, weight, and limited maneuverability. These vehicles often operate on city streets where traffic patterns can be complex, increasing the risk of collisions with smaller passenger vehicles.
Sanitation trucks may make frequent stops, turns, and lane changes, which can create unexpected situations for nearby drivers. Additionally, their larger mass means that any collision can result in more severe damage and injuries.
Drivers sharing the road with these vehicles are encouraged to maintain a safe distance, remain alert, and anticipate sudden stops or movements. Understanding how these vehicles operate can help reduce the likelihood of serious accidents.
