Emergency units arrived and found a 45-year-old man alert and speaking. He was taken to a local hospital as a trauma patient after being struck at an estimated speed of over 20 mph.
Officers searched the area for the suspected vehicle, but no further details about the driver have been released.
Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the crash, and more details will be released as soon as they become available. We are thinking of those injured as they receive medical care.
What Makes Pedestrian Hit-and-Run Crashes Especially Concerning
Pedestrians have no physical protection during a crash, which increases the risk of injury even at moderate speeds. Impacts at higher speeds can lead to more serious harm.
When a driver leaves the scene, it can delay accountability and make it harder to gather key details. This may slow the process of identifying those involved.
Staying alert in areas with foot traffic and slowing down can help reduce the risk of pedestrian crashes.
