Wichita, KS (May 13, 2026) – Two people were hurt in a rear-end crash on Wednesday, May 13, on southbound Interstate 235 near Central in west Wichita. The collision was reported just before 8:00 a.m. during the morning commute.
A 2016 Dodge Grand Caravan was traveling south on I-235 when it failed to slow down with traffic and struck the back of a 2005 Dodge Ram pickup. Both people hurt in the crash were the drivers of the two vehicles. No passengers were reported in either vehicle.
One driver was taken to a local hospital in critical condition. The other driver’s injuries were described as minor. The Kansas Highway Patrol crash log later described the injuries for both drivers as suspected minor, though the differing accounts have not been fully reconciled in available reports.
Southbound I-235 traffic backed up near Central following the crash. Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the collision, and more details will be released as they become available. We are thinking of both drivers as they receive medical care.
