What Happens When Drivers Fail to Obey Stop Signs at Intersections?
Failure to stop at controlled intersections is a common cause of serious crashes.
When a driver ignores a stop sign, cross-traffic often has little time to react, leading to side-impact collisions that can be especially dangerous for occupants. These crashes frequently occur at full or near-full speed, increasing the likelihood of severe injuries or fatalities.
Drivers are reminded to always come to a complete stop, check for oncoming traffic, and proceed only when it is safe to do so.
