Why Vehicle Entrapment Happens After Serious Crashes
Vehicle entrapment occurs when occupants are unable to exit a car following a crash due to damage to the vehicle’s structure. Collisions can bend metal frames, jam doors, or trap drivers and passengers inside the passenger compartment.
Emergency responders often use specialized tools to carefully cut or spread sections of the vehicle to free trapped occupants. These rescue efforts are done with caution to prevent further injury.
Entrapment is more likely during high-impact crashes or when vehicles strike objects or other cars at certain angles. Once occupants are safely removed, medical teams quickly assess injuries and transport patients for further treatment.
