Why Rear-End Collisions with Large Vehicles Can Be Severe
Crashes involving large service vehicles, such as street sweepers, can result in serious outcomes due to their size and weight. These vehicles often travel at slower speeds, which can create a sudden speed difference for approaching drivers.
When a smaller vehicle strikes the rear of a heavy-duty vehicle, the impact force can be significant. The height and structure of larger vehicles may also increase the risk of severe damage to the front of the smaller vehicle.
Visibility, lighting, and driver awareness can all affect the likelihood of these collisions. Even in daylight, limited reaction time can contribute to the severity of a crash.
