What causes vehicles to cross into oncoming traffic?
Head-on collisions often occur when a vehicle unintentionally or suddenly enters the opposite lane of travel.
This can happen for several reasons, including driver distraction, fatigue, medical emergencies, or loss of vehicle control. Even a brief lapse in attention can cause a vehicle to drift across the center line, especially on highways without physical barriers.
