Brooklyn, NY (August 31, 2026) – A 28-year-old woman died Saturday, August 29, after a Cadillac Escalade struck her while she was walking in a crosswalk at 55th St. and 3rd Ave. in Sunset Park.
The woman was crossing the street around 7:30 a.m. when the southbound SUV hit her. She suffered severe head and body trauma and was taken to NYU Langone Hospital–Brooklyn in critical condition. She later died at the hospital.
The driver left the area without stopping. The woman’s name has not been released pending notification of her family.
The hit-and-run remains under investigation as authorities work to determine what led to the fatal accident.
