How Entrapment Can Complicate Emergency Response After a Crash
Entrapment incidents often require emergency crews to use specialized rescue equipment to safely remove people from damaged vehicles. These crashes can take longer to clear because responders must stabilize the vehicle and protect injured occupants during the rescue process.
Two-vehicle collisions involving entrapment may happen when heavy impact damage prevents doors from opening or causes parts of the vehicle to collapse inward. In these situations, responders often work closely with medical personnel to monitor injuries while extrication is underway. Traffic delays are also common because lanes may need to be blocked to provide enough space for rescue operations. Roadway speed, angle of impact, and vehicle size can all affect the severity of damage and the complexity of the response after a serious crash.
