Why Motorcycle Crashes Often Result in Severe Injuries
Motorcycle accidents frequently lead to serious injuries because riders have far less protection than occupants inside passenger vehicles. Even at moderate speeds, a rider can be thrown from the motorcycle during impact, increasing the risk of head trauma, broken bones, and internal injuries.
Intersections are common locations for motorcycle crashes due to turning traffic, limited visibility, and sudden lane changes. Emergency responders often begin immediate medical care at the scene when victims suffer critical injuries or become unresponsive. CPR may be started when a rider shows no signs of normal breathing or circulation after a collision.
Helmets and protective gear can reduce some injury risks, though the force of impact in motorcycle crashes can still cause life-threatening harm. Road conditions, traffic volume, and driver awareness may also affect crash severity in busy urban areas.
