According to reports, Avery Lynn Sexton stepped into traffic on the beach Saturday, June 7, when a passing vehicle hit her. The child was rushed to a nearby hospital, where she later died from her injuries.
The driver stayed at the beach until emergency units arrived. Early information released by investigators indicated that neither speeding nor impairment appeared to be factors in the tragedy.
