Oceanside, CA (January 6, 2026) – Authorities have released the identity of the man killed in a pedestrian crash at the intersection of Oceanside Boulevard and College Boulevard. The incident, which occurred on the evening of January 2, has now claimed the life of 40-year-old Michael Gilbert Figueroa, according to updated reports from Oceanside Police.
Emergency crews were dispatched to the intersection around 7:18 p.m. after receiving reports of a pedestrian being struck. Preliminary findings revealed that Figueroa had been sitting on the center median of Oceanside Boulevard when he was hit by an eastbound vehicle. First responders arrived and attempted life-saving efforts, but Figueroa was pronounced dead at the scene at approximately 7:34 p.m.
The driver of the vehicle involved remained at the scene and has fully cooperated with investigators. Authorities did not report any injuries to the driver, and no arrests or citations have been announced. Police confirmed that impairment was not believed to be a factor, and the manner of death has officially been ruled an accident.
The crash remains under investigation by Oceanside Police, who have not yet disclosed further details about traffic impacts or any contributing roadway conditions at the time of the collision.
