Midvale, UT (January 7, 2026) – A pedestrian was taken to the hospital Monday evening after being struck by a vehicle while crossing at a marked crosswalk on 7200 South in Midvale. The collision occurred around 6:00 p.m. and resulted in significant traffic disruption along eastbound lanes near 180 West.
According to the Unified Police Department (UPD), the pedestrian was crossing legally at the intersection when they were hit by an eastbound driver. The victim sustained injuries to their upper extremities and was transported by medical personnel to a nearby hospital for treatment. The severity of the injuries has not been disclosed, but no life-threatening conditions have been reported at this time.
The driver involved in the incident was taken into custody by UPD officers and transported to the Salt Lake County Jail. Authorities have not yet released further information regarding potential charges or whether impairment or distraction played a role in the collision.
Traffic along 7200 South was impacted as a result of the crash. The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) reported that two left eastbound lanes were blocked near the scene, with an initial estimated clearance at 7:43 p.m. Full reopening occurred around 8:15 p.m.
